I absolutely love using these to separate the different areas of my board. Currently, I have areas designated for each class to keep up with what we did in class and what homework was assigned. This allows me to easily manage each class being in different locations of the curriculum. I have a student who picks up a sticky note off the tray of the board when they come in the classroom. This student keeps the sticky note on his/her desk and writes down our classwork and homework as we go. At the end of class, this student will write this info in the appropriate location on the board for that class period. This area also serves as a location for absent students to view missed notes/assignments when they return. Periodically, I give this student a variety of school supply items to pick from – colored pens, highlighters, mechanical pencils, etc. and/or ice cream/slushie coupon for keeping up with this. So far, this system is helping me stay organized and keeps me from asking the student a million times “what did we get done in class yesterday” or “did we do….”.
I also use the matching magnetic pockets to hold my laminated learning standards for each day’s lesson (first picture).
